Bio

Sally DeMerchant is a multidisciplinary artist living in Dawson City, within the traditional territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in. She is exploring comics as a way to share how she navigates the world as a queer/disabled artist who lives with mental illness and chronic pain. Her first comic, Winter Guests/Gifts, tells a tale of learning about wellness from the world of sled dogs. Sally enjoys using different materials depending on what the subject matter is. She loves to forage for inspiration while out on the land. Sally is currently exploring the world of lantern puppets, painting, and comics.
