Listening and Creating Space for Your Inner Child

The mural was created by consulting local youth on what Truth and Reconciliation/Orange shirt day means to them. Expanding onto larger topics such as what does reconciliation look like, what does being Tr’ondek Hwechin, and healing look like/mean to them. Using their words as inspiration Jules and I created a visual representation of what our local youth deemed important to share with the community on this important day.
Special shoutout to Shailey Carlick for helping us put the first brushstrokes on to the board.

A few key points that are within the mural is: the medicine wheel, traditional medicines, Tr’ondek Hwech’in Culture, all my relations - animals, elements of Mother Earth, Crow and Wolf Clans, and a few individuals who were chosen by the youth as Han representatives.
